Examiner's Basich headed to Dow Jones

Examiner Managing Editor Zoran Basich is leaving the free paper for a job as an editor for Dow Jones and Co. in San Francisco. He has been managing editor since July 2006.

Senior Assistant Managing Editor Deirdre Hussey will be promoted to managing editor, according to an e-mail from Executive Editor James Pimentel. Hussey has been with The Examiner for five years and has been primarily responsible for driving the local news coverage, serving as city editor and senior assistant managing editor responsible for news. Previously she was at the The Village Voice in New York City and the Cape Argus in Cape Town, South Africa.

He wasn't the only one to leave. Two reporters went with him through the Ex's revolving door.

Zoran's a great guy. The Examiner's loss is Dow Jones' gain.

Zoran is a real pro. He may have taken some criticism for his professional alliance with the Fangs but there is no questioning his editorial abilities and newsroom management. San Francisco journalism is weaker for his departure.

Hussey is and will be the worst thing to ever happen to the paper...a succession of people have left because of her. Good luck, Examiner, you'll need it!

What's the turnover rate in the Examiner's newsroom these days?

Wow! Go Zoran! As for Hussey, her reputation in the industry speaks for itself...and that's NOT a goos thing.

that paper sucks and so does its management. It's pathetic. Hussey is a total nightmare. I pitty the reporters who are subjected to working with her.

I'll second this comment:
