Radio anchor arrested on sex charges

A morning co-anchor and news reporter for radio station KZST-FM 100.1 in Santa Rosa has been arrested on charges of alleged lewd and lascivious acts on a girl under the age of 14, according to Bay City News (via NBC11) and the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Ron Kirk (pictured), 49, whose real name is Ron Kirk Kuhlmeyer, of Santa Rosa, is facing 15 felony charges and is being held at Sonoma County Jail with bail of $335,000 after his arrest on Oct. 23. He resigned Wednesday, said Tom Skinner, general manager of stations KZST and KJZY 93.7. Previously Kirk had worked at KSRO-AM 1350.

Skinner told BCN that KZST intends to report the story Friday morning. "We don't generally report on these types of stories. We're not that deep of a news organization and do a two-minute news update each hour," Skinner said. "We have nothing to hide. Nothing went on here (at the station). We also believe someone is innocent until proven guilty."

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat said a criminal complaint filed against Kirk accuses him of “substantial sexual conduct” with a girl under 14 from 2004 through August 2006. Another 14 charges alleging lewd conduct stem from sexual touching after she turned 14, according to the complaint. (Photo Credit: KZST Web site)
